If there are items you would like to see added to the store, please contact email@example.com. For a list of all items that are currently available, as well as for ordering and reporting instructions, please visit the OPRC website at http://www.floridaoprc.ce.ufl.edu/.
The car seat store will open in June in order for individuals to place orders for Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Week events in September.
2017 Latch Manual
The 2017 LATCH Manual has an update available. Check the OPRC website’s national news section for this announcement.
The OPRC helped organize two CPS updates this past April in Chipley and Ocala. Over 50 technicians and instructors participated in these events and were able to earn continuing education unit (CEU) credits, as well as learn valuable information on industry updates.
Florida Occupant Protection Coalition (FOPC)
The FOPC held their inaugural meeting on April 17 and 18 at the University of Florida. In the coming months, the FOPC will be developing a strategic plan that will serve as the blueprint for legislation, program, and funding strategies to maximize the State’s ability to reduce unrestrained motor vehicle occupant crashes. For more information about the FOPC and to learn of upcoming meetings, please visit http://floridaoprc.ce.ufl.edu/oprc/coalition.asp.
Scholarships Available for CPS Professional Certification and Recertification fees
Between now and the end of the year, the certification for almost 500 Florida CPS professionals will expire. As a reminder, the OPRC offers scholarships to help with Safe Kids certification and recertification fees. Please visit the OPRC scholarship website to learn more: http://www.floridaoprc.ce.ufl.edu/oprc/Scholarships1.asp
Stipends Available to Teach CPS Technician Certification Courses
Stipends are available to CPS Instructors for teaching CPS Technician certification courses. Those teaching within 50 miles of their work or home are eligible for $640 stipend while those teaching outside of this area are eligible for a $1,500 stipend. To apply for a stipend, please visit: http://www.floridaoprc.ce.ufl.edu/oprc/Scholarships1.asp
We strongly encourage instructors to consider teaching courses in underserved areas such as those marked on this Florida CPS Density Map provided by FDOT - http://www.floridaoprc.ce.ufl.edu/NewsBot.asp?MODE=VIEW&ID=1886. Justification can be made for instructors to receive more than one stipend per grant year for teaching in these areas.
