Intersection Control Evaluation

Course Description:

FDOT has developed an Intersection Control Evaluation (ICE) manual to evaluate traditional roadway intersection types that have been identified for capacity and/or traffic control improvements. The evaluation includes state-of-the-art tools to select and rank the most suitable alternative intersection design based predictive safety and efficient traffic operations. This promotes the thoughtful consideration of alternative intersection types from the traditional stop control and signalized intersections, to the more innovative types such as roundabouts, median U-turns, restricted crossing U-turns and displaced left-turn intersections. This new manual provides designers with the necessary tools to serve the various modes of transportation while providing an alternative intersection design that is safe, operationally efficient and cost effective.
