Director's Message

Although our Center has had to navigate some personnel and activity changes (that can be struggles at times), the result of these shifts have ultimately proved to be very positive for our efficiency and growth. Two new staff members (Don Weatherby and Alyssa Mercadante) have joined us and brought very knowledgeable and productive additions to our team. The reorganization and expansion has allowed us to improve what we have always done well, while providing an opportunity to expand into professional engineering webinar offerings.

Upcoming Courses and Training

Engineering Webinars

The T2 Center has expanded training opportunities to include engineering-level webinars presented by experts around the country.  The current list of topics is below, noting the instructor for each with its respective dates and times (ET).  Several more are being finalized to add in the near future, so please keep an eye on our website for those as well. For more information click here and/or to register, visit our website here.

T2 Attends APWA Expo in Jacksonville, FL

On April 19th the T2 Center attended the American Public Works Association (APWA) Expo at the Prime Osborn Center in downtown Jacksonville, FL. Alison Tillman, Education and Training Specialist and Don Weatherby, Training Coordinator got an opportunity to network with both established and new APWA members. The APWA Expo features vendors, educators and other companies that provide various resources such as educational materials, guides, manuals and also technical assistance to Public Works Agencies statewide.

During the Expo both Tillman and Weatherby handed out Federal Highway Administration resources, University of Florida Transportation Institute ongoing research project information, and literature showcasing courses and classes offered by the T2 Center. Overall, the staff got an opportunity to network with and discuss daily challenges faced by Public Works and identified T2 Center resources to assist with those challenges. The T2 Center has also increased class enrollments from Expo attendees. As always, T2 is looking for instructors statewide to instruct a variety of courses including Maintenance of Traffic to engineering level courses. For any information on scheduling classes or becoming an instructor please contact Don Weatherby via email at d.weatherby@ufl.edu.
